Wound Care

Wound Care Service

At Compassion Home Care, we typically treat wounds that develop from diabetic and venous ulcers, burns, bed sores, surgical wounds, infected wounds and more. We employ the latest medications and advanced techniques to expedite the patient's recovery and healing process.

We work in conjunction with your primary physician to make sure we are in sync on the best treatment plan to restore the patient's quality of life. Then, it's simply a matter of working the plan, and monitoring the results to ensure we stay on the right track to recovery.

Among other things, on-going wound care involves gentle cleaning, controlling bleeding, applying antibiotics or petroleum jelly, and covering with a clean bandage to maintain a sterile environment for the wound to heal.

We Deliver Unmatched Service

It is our goal to dramatically improve the life of every patient who depends on us for wound care. To that end, we are reliable, diligent, and committed to providing stellar service at all times. Our skilled team knows the ropes, and dutifully discharges their tasks with concern and respect for each patient

Shortening Healing Times

Efficiency is always high on our list of standards in the discharge of care we provide. If we can decrease the time it takes for a patient's wound to heal, then everybody benefits. That's why we are constantly looking for ways to make that happen. Involving the patient and getting direct feedback is just one of the contributing factors.

Patient Education and Engagement

When it comes to wound care, patient education and engagement plays a vital role in achieving a positive outcome and complete healing. We educate the patient on the importance of doing their part to follow through and stick to the care plan guidelines. We encourage them to be active in their own recovery.

Prevent Wounds from Reoccurring

After a patient's chronic wound has healed, it is important that he or she maintains healthy diet and lifestyle habits to prevent a reoccurrence. Depending on the original cause of the wound, this could include keeping blood sugar levels in check, inspecting the body for cuts, bruises and blisters, and monitoring your weight.

Other Aspects of  Wound Care

  • Frequent dressing changes: We change dressing at least once a day, or sooner if necessary, in order to keep the wound and surrounding area clean.
  • Covering the wound: Covering the wound with a clean bandage protects it from dirt and infection, and maintains the conditions for healing.
  • Increased confidence and independence: As wounds heal, patients can return to their normal activities, leading to greater confidence and independence.
  • Reduced risk of complications: Effective wound care greatly lowers the risk of serious developments that could lead to infection or amputation.
  • Pain reduction: Keeping a wound moist and clean reduces pain and improves comfort. That's a clue you are heading in the right direction.
  • Preventing Chronic Wounds: When a wound has healed, it's always a smart practice for the patient to avoid the conditions that caused it in the first place, to prevent a re-occurrence.
